FAQs

Is refinishing less expensive than replacing my cabinets?

Yes it’s generally a fraction of the cost.

How long have you been refinishing cabinets?

I been refinishing cabinets for over 25 years.

Do you do the work yourself or do you hire employees to do the work?

I do the refinishing myself - with my son and the help of an assistant.

What material do you use to refinish my cabinets?

Precatalyzed lacquer. This is a factory-finish product.  This is the same product used on new cabinets.  We do NOT use waterbased products. Over the years a waterbased product does not hold up to the wear and tear of kitchen use.

How long does it take to refinish my cabinets?

The process, in most cases, requires five/six days-for a standard kitchen.  We generally like to begin on a Monday and have the cabinets completed by Friday.

Will it be messy?

I take pride in maintaining our work area clean before, during, and after each work day.  We seal all entryways and vents. We move and cover all appliances, floors, and countertops. We install a plastic wall between the kitchen and the other rooms, this ensures minimal dust and odor from entering the other areas of the home.

Do I need to remove everything from my cabinets and drawers?

No, generally, this is not necessary. We can simply push back the contents of the cabinet boxes, giving us a couple of inches to work with. The drawer contents remain intact.   However, if we are unable to remove the DRAWER face, then the DRAWERS will need to be completely empty. Allowing us to take the entire drawer to our shop to refinish.

How long will I be without my kitchen?

The first day we will be removing the doors/drawer faces.  The following few days we will be working on them at our shop. At this time you will have free access to the kitchen however, the cabinets will be without the doors and drawer faces.  The final day/two days we will be refinishing the boxes onsite and reinstalling doors/drawers.  The kitchen will be inaccessible at this time.

Do you install door pulls or knobs?

Yes, the cost of this installation is additional to our refinishing estimate.
